Book Review: Not So Fast

As I delved into the pages of Not So Fast, I found myself taken on a journey that I won’t soon forget. Authored by Phebe Hanson and Joan Murphy Pride and published by Nodin Press in 2005, this book had a page count of 206 and an ISBN of 9781932472349.

The book revolves around the story of Finnegan, a teenage boy who struggles to keep up with the fast-paced world we live in today. He finds solace in his grandmother’s stories about their family’s past and their connections to nature.

One thing that really resonated with me was the message that sometimes it is necessary to slow down and appreciate the simple things in life. The authors do an excellent job of conveying this message through Finnegan’s story. They also highlight how being disconnected from nature can lead to a disconnection from ourselves.

While Not So Fast is primarily marketed towards young adults, I feel that anyone can benefit from reading it. It is a reminder for us all to take a step back and reflect on what is truly important in life.

However, one area where the book fell short for me was its pacing. At times, it felt like the story was dragging on too slowly, causing me to lose interest momentarily. That being said, this did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.

In terms of score, I would give Not So Fast a solid 4 out of 5 stars for its beautifully crafted message about slowing down and reconnecting with nature.

Overall, if you are looking for a thought-provoking read that will leave you questioning your own lifestyle choices, then this book is definitely worth checking out!
